To celebrate Council’s 160th anniversary, staff have volunteered to plant 160 trees, shrubs and grasses.

Planet Ark’s ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Tree Day is Sunday 28 July, ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Schools Tree Day is Friday 26 July, and Shellharbour Mayor Councillor Marianne Saliba encouraged everyone in the community to get involved.

“In partnership with Blackbutt BushCare, Shellharbour City Council will hold a community ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Tree Day planting activity on Sunday 21 July from 9am to 12 noon at Blackbutt Forest,” Cr Saliba said.

“No bookings are required, and volunteers can enter the planting site from the Blackbutt Forest carpark at the intersection of Wattle and Brunderee Roads, Blackbutt.”

“Everyone is welcome to get involved in greening the city and planting local native plants to enhance this important urban forest.”

To support local schools tree planting efforts, Council’s nursery is offering 25 free plants to schools in the Shellharbour area.
