The careers of four women are being celebrated by the Minerals Council of Australia this week with the aim to boost female participation in the state’s growing resources sector.
Last night at a ceremony held in Ballarat, the 2024 Victorian Women in Resources Awards were bestowed on four high-performing industry figures. They will now go forward to the national Women in Resources Awards being held in September.
The Exceptional Woman in Victorian Resources is Fiona Czuczman of S2 Resources, who comes from a geology background and is currently working as a community relations professional.
Fiona is involved in engaging with local communities and Traditional Owners on behalf of S2 Resources for their Victorian and interstate projects. She is passionate about promoting the minerals exploration industry and fostering a more positive perception in the community.
The Outstanding Trade Operator or Technician is Alina Tyler of Deepcore Drilling. Commencing her career in the mining industry as a Trades Assistant, Alina’s commitment and passion for the industry has seen her take leaps and bounds in her professional development.
The Gender Diversity Champion is Felicity Davy of Fosterville Gold Mine, who is a passionate human resources professional making a significant contribution by promoting and advocating for inclusion and diversity at the state’s largest gold mining site.
The Exceptional Young Woman in Victorian Resources is , who works at the Geological Survey of Victoria’s Drill Core Library in Werribee.
Shannon is a passionate science educator who currently volunteers for the national Curious Minds STEM program, which aims to provide opportunities for young women and non-binary students to be mentored by a female professional working in a field of their choice.
