Dubbo Regional Council’s (DRC) annual Christmas campaign encourages the community to shop locally within the Dubbo Region this festive season.
The campaign aims at increasing community connection and engagement for both locals and visitors and consequently increasing spending within the Dubbo Region Local Government Area.
Featuring the familiar Smile It’s Christmas and Jingle on the Bell branding, the campaign includes local print, radio, social media and TV advertising throughout the Dubbo Region and Central West NSW. Printed campaign collateral consists of branded street flags along the Dubbo and Wellington CBDs and Christmas-themed window decals to spread the Christmas cheer.
Mayor of Dubbo Regional Council, Councillor Mathew Dickerson spoke about the community spirit in the region. “Our Christmas CBD street flags in Wellington and Dubbo feature individuals and organisations that have made a noteworthy contribution to the community in the areas of arts, education, health, volunteering, community connection, sport and more.”
“For many, Christmas is about coming together and celebrating. Seeing these local faces line the streets is a great way to start conversations and hear about all the wonderful businesses, activities and groups that can be found here in our community,” Councillor Dickerson said.
Adding a little more Christmas spirit to the CBD, the local heroes who featured on the flags then assisted the Mayor to turn on the lights on the Christmas trees in both Wellington and Dubbo.
DRC is also partnering with Dubbo Square to support local charities by raising funds with a gift-wrapping station. This valuable service allows busy shoppers to drop off their gifts to be wrapped by volunteers, with all proceeds going to local charities. The Community Christmas Gift Wrapping Station can be found near Coles from 10 to 23 December 2022 between 10am – 2pm each day.
Manager Strategic Partnerships and Investment Tim Nichols highlighted the importance of supporting the local business community. “We have some wonderful retail businesses in our region, operated by passionate business owners and I encourage everyone to purchase meaningful gifts by shopping locally this season.”
“For those hard-to-buy friends or relatives, the My Dubbo Region shopping card is a great gift option, while supporting local businesses at the same time. It is an EFTPOS-based card that works like any other gift card or voucher system and can be spent on services and products in over 150 stores across the region,” Mr Nichols said.
