Short’s fifty, coming off 110 balls, was the first milestone for the match that has already seen 27 wickets fall within two days.
Bad light brought an early end to play with Victoria 7-159 with a lead of 130 runs.
Play will resume at 10:00am tomorrow with James Pattinson (12*) and Peter Siddle (1*) at the crease.
