Police have caught two drink drivers in Melbourne this morning.
Public Order Response Team (PORT) officers observed a Hyundai lose traction in West Melbourne about 3am.
They intercepted the car and spoke to the 32-year-old driver who returned a positive preliminary breath test before he furnished an evidentiary breath test of 0.135%.
The Wodonga man said he’d been drinking Coronas and Gin and decided to drive from Wodonga to Frankston to collect a friend.
His licence has been suspended for 13 months and he received a $702 fine.
He will have to apply to a Magistrate to have his licence reinstated and will be required to fit an interlock device.
Earlier in the morning a different PORT unit intercepted a Toyota HiLux in Flinders Street at 1.40am.
The 31-year-old man from Noble Park underwent a breath test and returned a reading of .116%
He received a $702 fine and his licence has been suspended for 11 months.
This man will also be required to apply to a Magistrate to have his licence reinstated and will be required to fit an interlock device.
The man had driven from Dandenong to Melbourne.
