The annual ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is back, marking its 22nd successful year.
This vibrant and fun event sees a picture book, penned and illustrated by an Australian, read simultaneously across the country in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops, and many other locations.
The NSS aims to:
- Promote the value of reading and literacy
- Highlight the joy and importance of books
- Showcase an Australian writer and publisher
- Encourage storytime activities in libraries and communities nationwide
- Provide opportunities for parents, grandparents, the media, and others to participate in and enjoy the occasion.
The event, which is part of the annual Library and Information Week, garners positive media coverage and generates significant community interest. The 2021 NSS was the most successful to date, with over 1.98 million participants across more than 33 thousand locations.
This year, the Kaniva Library is hosting a special visit for kindergarten kids on the day of the event. Meanwhile, the Horsham, Harrow, and Edenhope Libraries are each hosting a public event at 12noon on Wednesday, 22 May.
