Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives investigating the alleged kidnapping of a man and conspiracy to kidnap another on Sydney’s Lower North Shore last month have arrested a sixth man, seizing almost 1kg of cocaine and more than $30,000 cash.
About 12pm on Thursday 14 October 2021, a 20-year-old man was allegedly confronted by two men at Gore Creek Reserve at Greenwich, before being forced into a car and travelling to a house in St Leonards.
Police have been told the man was threatened then assaulted, before being released.
The incident was later reported to officers from North Shore Police Area Command, who commenced inquiries.
Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad were notified and took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Bindowan.
Following extensive inquiries, earlier this month detectives arrested five men – aged between 24 and 33 – who have since been charged over their alleged roles in the incidents and remain before the courts.
As part of ongoing investigations, strike force detectives, with the assistance of Raptor Squad, arrested a 20-year-old man at a unit in Rouse Hill from 6am today (Tuesday 30 November 2021).
Shortly after the arrest, investigators executed a search warrant at the address, locating and seizing 871g of cocaine, $32,900 cash, an electronic stun device, and a white Toyota Camry.
The cocaine has an estimated potential street value of almost $350,000.
All items will undergo further forensic examination.
The man was taken to Riverstone Police Station where he was charged with five offences, including two counts of take or detain person in company with intent to obtain financial advantage, supply prohibited drug more than commercial quantity, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, and possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.
He was refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court today.
