Tasmanian workers looking to gain new skills have the opportunity to share in funding of up to $3 million as part of the Tasmanian Government’s Skills Fund which opened today.
We recognise that a skilled and productive workforce is vital to our economy as we recover from the impacts of COVID-19, and that a rewarding career is beneficial for the wellbeing of individuals and communities.
The last funding rounds for this program saw 13 local training organisations share in $1.47 million to directly help some 1,448 existing workers improve their skills to secure rewarding careers.
The Skills Fund is designed to ensure there is a stable pool of skilled workers in areas of high skills demand in priority industries, and addresses identified skills gaps across the state by giving workers access to training.
The Fund has a focus on sectors including tourism and hospitality, building and construction, advanced manufacturing, ICT, aged and disability services, agriculture and aquaculture, and transport and logistics.
Endorsed Registered Training Organisations are eligible to apply with applications closing on Friday, 16 October 2020.
