Sky’s limit as Tahune Adventures re-opens

Guy Barnett,Minister for Resources

The Tasmanian Liberal Government welcomes the re-opening tomorrow of Tahune Adventures, just in time for the school holidays.

Tahune Airwalk is a major drawcard, and is expected to attract more than 100,000 visitors annually once tourists can again travel to Tasmania, making it a significant driver of jobs and economic driver in the local area.

Tahune Adventures and the Airwalk are iconic attractions and being open at weekends during winter will help kick-start job opportunities for many locals in the Geeveston and Huon Valley communities.

This strongly supports the Tasmanian Government’s broader intrastate tourism strategy, encouraging tourists to explore our own island, particularly regional Tasmania.

We would like to recognise and congratulate Sustainable Timber Tasmania, and the owner of Tahune Adventures Ken Stronach and his team for the monumental work undertaken to get this important tourism site operational following the devastating bushfires of 2018/19.

In light of the recent bushfires and COVID pandemic, Sustainable Timber Tasmania is continuing to support Tahune Adventures by suspending rental payments until 30 September 2020.

We strongly encourage all Tasmanians visit and experience this world-class attraction, and support the Geeveston and Huon Valley communities, and also to consider supporting other regional communities throughout the state.
