Opportunity knocks for small businesses across Sydney to take their enterprises to new heights.
The City of Sydney is looking for 20 ambitious small business owners who are eager to explore opportunities and challenge the way they look at their businesses.
The free, 12-week program aims to help businesses redefine the way they operate.
Designed to empower local retailers, hospitality providers, tourism operators, and social enterprise businesses, the program is tailor-made to inspire innovation and explore growth opportunities.
Participants will learn from experts, collaborate with peers and receive customised support to help reshape their business strategy.
“Small businesses are the lifeblood of Sydney, contributing to economic development and creating jobs,” Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore AO said.
“We want to provide them with the tools and knowledge to thrive and succeed, so we’ve partnered with local digital innovation consultancy, Disruptors Co, to develop a mentor-style program for businesses.
“This a chance for businesses ready to challenge the way they operate, embrace the latest trends, and explore opportunities to take their brand to the next level.”
As well as expert-led workshops, industry insights and ideas exchanges, participants will have the opportunity to network with and learn from previous participants of the program.
“Participating in the innovation program was an eye-opening experience that revealed my business’s growth potential and areas for improvement,” said program alumni, Catherine Colubriale, owner of Catherine Colubriale Couture, Paddington.
“I’ve already recommended it to other businesses because of its substantial impact on shaping decisions and strategies for the future of my business.
“The program’s insights are invaluable and continue to influence my business journey even after its completion.”
Fellow program alumni, Noreen Roesler of Permanence, Sydney said participating in the program helped her gain new insights that empowered her to change and improve the operation of her business.
“As a small business, we don’t often take the time out to look from the outside in to see how we’re travelling, and most of all to have guidance and support so our path forward is constructive,” Ms Roesler said.
“Small business is going through challenging times – times of change and where support is most needed.
“We are truly grateful to have the City of Sydney step in, provide an opportunity, and teach us new ways.”
Since the program launched three years ago, more than 90 local retail and hospitality businesses have successfully participated in and benefited from the process.
The program commences on Monday 4 March 2024. Applications are now open and close at 5pm on Thursday 25 January. An will be held at 6pm on Monday 4 December.
