Smart City Advancing

Wyndham City’s Smart City plan is building momentum. As the 2022 Digital Innovation Futures Victoria Festival concludes this week, Wyndham City marks significant progress across various projects and initiatives delivering on its Smart City strategy.

An interactive summary of this work is now available online, detailing an ambitious pipeline of projects that includes the deployment of AI technology, large-scale solar power installations and a range of smart sensors and technology to gather insights and improve liveability across the municipality.

Key achievements to date include the completion of one of Australia’s leading smart parking systems within the Werribee City Centre and the implementation of the Wyndham Solar City Project, one of the largest rollouts of commercial-scale rooftop solar by a local government.

Wyndham City has also deployed a range of technology such as public Wi-Fi, smartphone charging stations, smart bins and smart barbecues across the city and invested in systems to streamline smart city adoption and impact.

Wyndham City’s Smart Cities portfolio holder Cr Sahana Ramesh said: “Intelligent and creative use of technology, data and innovation are the pathways to a sustainable, resilient and fiscally responsible future for our City.”

“Our progress is exciting and shows we have the vision and commitment necessary to build a smarter Wyndham.”

Building upon the Wyndham 2040 vision, the Wyndham Smart City Strategy 2019-2024 was adopted in June 2019.

The strategy outlines Wyndham City’s commitment to harness technology, data and innovation to address these challenges and improve how residents, businesses and visitors work, play and live.
