Sonac Australia- have your say

Sonac Australia Pty Ltd is applying for an EPA licence to continue to operate its existing animal blood processing facility located north of Maryborough in central Victoria.

Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) is assessing the application and has put it up for public comment on the Engage Victoria website.

You can see the application documents, ask a question or make a submission at:

Under the proposal, the facility at 281 Maryborough-Dunolly Road, Havelock, would be licensed to manufacture spray-dried protein powders, haemoglobin and plasma, which are used as pet food and non-ruminant animal feed supplements.

Blood collected from abattoirs is chilled and delivered by tanker trucks, to be processed into dried powders, then packaged and shipped to the end user. Wastewater from the production process and cleaning activities are processed by an onsite treatment plant.

EPA is scheduled to make a decision on the application in early 2021.

Submissions are open until Wednesday 30 September 2020.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
