Australia’s biggest names and indie heroes will perform at Surround Sounds Geelong & the Bellarine, a month-long music festival celebrating the region’s live music cultural heritage across venues and cultural spaces from Thursday 7 April to Sunday 8 May.
Featuring a massive line-up of musicians, this genre-bending event will see the likes of Australian music icon Paul Kelly, world-renowned band The Rubens, country-music legends Kasey Chambers & Busby Marou, indie favourites Children Collide, veteran rockers the Hard-Ons, and beloved vocal quartet Human Nature perform in some of the best-known venues throughout the region.
Over on the hill, Mt Duneed Estate will play host to an epic line-up including Lime Cordiale, Thelma Plum, Client Liaison, The VANNS and more for a very special A Day On The Green.
The full program announced today includes unique performances alongside these Australian music legends. Nina Ferro & her Jazz Ensemble performing the Songs of Ella Fitzgerald; an inspiring presentation from Music in Exile with performances from Ajak Kwai and Gordon Koang; a Bonsai Records showcase featuring Bones & Jones, Fenn Wilson, Pollyman and Sirens; Australia’s leading INXS tribute band INXSIVE and the Geelong Symphony Orchestra will perform Beethoven’s transcendent Pastorale: Symphony No.6.
The Melbourne Music Bus Tours will venture out to the regions for the first time to bring you the Geelong Music Bus Tours, hosted by Adalita (Magic Dirt) and Mick Thomas (Weddings, Parties, Anything).
The vast music history of Geelong and the Bellarine will also be explored across a curated series of talks, visual art and live projections.
Live music venues across the municipality will be celebrated with performances at The Pier; Pistol Pete’s; Platform Arts; Ocean Grove Hotel; Barwon Club Hotel; Piano Bar; the Potato Shed; Provenance Wines; Lt Malop Street Precinct; Geelong Arts Centre – Costa Hall; Eastern Beach Café; Captain Bar; Ocean Grove Pavilion; The Mill at Portarlington; The Palais Geelong; Barwon Heads Hotel; Westend; The Door Gallery & Café; St Mary’s Basilica; Analogue Academy; Creative Geelong; and Beav’s Bar.
Surround Sounds will honour the region’s proud heritage and celebrate the region’s rich and distinctive music, community, places and spaces that make up the City of Greater Geelong & the Bellarine.
