COVID cases in SA
There have been 2,389 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 21,166 active cases in South Australia.
SA Health can confirm two women in their 70s, one man in his 70s, and two men in their 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.
There are 350 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 12 people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 213 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 116 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 21 have an unknown vaccination status.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants
The latest genome sampling has found 14.8% of samples analysed were BA.2, 16.3% of samples
analysed were BA.4 and 68.1% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing
Yesterday, 6,246 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 24% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,120 PCR tests were positive, while 1,269 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
