There have been 4,024 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 29,489 active cases in South Australia.
Sadly, SA Health can confirm a man in his 90s and a woman in her 80s, who both tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.
There are 188 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 21 people in ICU and four requiring a ventilator. Of the people hospitalised, 107 are fully vaccinated, 18 are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 63 have an unknown vaccination status.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, five cases from yesterday have been removed to the total number of cases.

Variants
Regular genome sampling is taken to monitor the levels of Omicron within South Australia. Eighty-one per cent of samples taken returned an Omicron result.

Yesterday, 21,845 people received a PCR test in South Australia, a 7.48% decrease on the previous 24 hours.
Vaccination update
Currently 93.0% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine, 89.0% have received their second dose and there were 7,869 booster shots given yesterday bringing the total booster shots to 248,466.
