South Australia Covid update as at 19 July 2022

COVID Cases in SA

There have been 4,172 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 29,845 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 50s, a woman in her 80s and a man in his 70s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 282 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 11 people in ICU, with one ventilated. Of those hospitalised, 162 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 72 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 48 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling has found 34.8% of samples analysed were BA.2, 19.7% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 45.5% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 7,657 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 13.1% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,866 PCR tests were positive, while 2,306 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.9% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.9% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 73.9% of eligible South Australiansand 69.5% of South Australians aged 16+.
