COVID Cases in SA
There have been 2,509 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia in the past week.
Asof 11:59pm Thursday 20 April, there were 126 people with COVID-19 in hospital,including one person in ICU.
Therewere 6 COVID-19 deaths notified in the past week, the ages range from people intheir 70s to 90s. Deaths may not have occurred in the week in which they werereported.
Please note that due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants
The latest genome sampling has found 57.4% of samples analysed were BA.2 and related variants (of which 9% were BA.2.7.5 and 91% were XBB), 31.6% were XBB.1.5 and 2.5% of samples analysed were BA.5 and related variants.
Other recombinant types made up 40% of the total variants (of which 96.7% were the XBC variant).
COVID testing
In the past week, 10,704 people received a PCR test in South Australia, a four per cent decrease on the previous week.
Of the test results returned, 869 PCR tests were positive and 1,640 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

COVID testing sites
There are more than 40 sites across the state where South Australians can access a PCR with and without a GP referral.
This includes new walk-in clinics at Salisbury and Brighton, Frome Road in Adelaide and Mount Barker where people can get a free PCR without a referral.
Bookings are preferred.
PCR testing should be prioritised for people who are more vulnerable to the health impacts of a COVID infection and who would benefit from prompt diagnosis and treatment with oral antiviral medications.
