COVID cases in SA
There have been 850 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 6,366 active cases in South Australia.
Sadly, SA Health can confirm 10 people who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away. The deaths include two women in their 60s, a woman in her 90s, a man in his 60s, two men in their 70s and four men in their 90s. The deaths notified since the last report occurred between 16 April 2022 and 22 August 2022.
There are 242 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including eight people in ICU, with three people ventilated. Of those hospitalised, 168 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 66 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and eight have an unknown vaccination status.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants
The latest genome sampling has found 1% of samples analysed were BA.2, 7.4% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 90.5% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing
Yesterday, 4,883 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 29.1% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 402 PCR tests were positive, while 448 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
Vaccination update
Currently 96.2% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 94.3% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 74.9% of eligible South Australians and 70.6% of South Australians aged 16+.
