COVID cases in SA

There have been 936 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 5,996 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm two people who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away. The deaths include one woman in her 80s and one man in his 90s. The deaths notified since the last report occurred between 18 June and 12 July 2022.

There are 257 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including eight people in ICU, with one person ventilated. Of those hospitalised, 181 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 71 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and five have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

*Nine reported deaths have been removed from the total due to deaths found to be unrelated to COVID-19.

Variants

The latest genome sampling has found 1% of samples analysed were BA.2, 7.4% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 90.5% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 6,162 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 26.2% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 472 PCR tests were positive, while 464 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

Vaccination update

Currently 96.2% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 94.3% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 75% of eligible South Australians and 70.7% of South Australians aged 16+.
