South Australia Covid update as at 24 June 2022

COVID Cases in SA

There have been 2,311 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 15,659 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm two women in their 90s and two men in their 70s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 200 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 10 people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 110 people have received three or more vaccine doses and 82 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and eight have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling from 1 to 13 June has found 80.7% of samples taken were BA.2.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 7,210 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is an 17.7% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,194 PCR tests were positive, while 1,117 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.9% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.9% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 73% of eligible South Australians and 68.5% of South Australians aged 16+.
