COVID cases in SA
There have been 749 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 5,655 active cases in South Australia.
Sadly, SA Health can confirm a man in his 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, has passed away.
Hospitalisation data is unavailable for today’s report due to a data verification process.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants
The latest genome sampling has found 1% of samples analysed were BA.2, 7.4% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 90.5% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing
Yesterday, 4,491 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 27.1% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 343 PCR tests were positive, while 406 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
Vaccination update
Currently 96.2% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 94.3% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 75% of eligible South Australians and 70.7% of South Australians aged 16+.
