COVID Cases in SA
There have been 1,846 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 24,612 active cases in South Australia.
Sadly, SA Health can confirm a man in his 80s and four women in their 80s who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.
There are 285 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 24 people in ICU and four people requiring a ventilator. Of those hospitalised, 170 people are fully vaccinated, 45 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 70 have an unknown vaccination status.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases have been readjusted.

Variants
Regular genome sampling is taken to monitor the levels of Omicron within South Australia. 97% of samples taken returned an Omicron result.

Yesterday, 9,167 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 10.4% decrease on the previous 24 hours.
Vaccination update
Currently 94.1% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 90.6% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 55.5% of eligible South Australians and 37.6% of South Australians aged 18+.
