South Australia Covid update as at 29 July 2022

COVID cases in SA

There have been 3,148 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 24,321 active cases in South Australia.

SA Health can confirm one woman in her 80s, two women in their 90s, four men in their 80s and one man in their 90s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

The deaths notified since the last report occurred between 23 February 2022 and 27 July 2022 and include the latest data released from Births, Deaths and Marriages.

There are 341 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 11 people in ICU and two people ventilated. Of those hospitalised, 212 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 113 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 16 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants

The latest genome sampling has found 14.8% of samples analysed were BA.2, 16.3% of samples analysedwere BA.4 and 68.1% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 11,026 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is an 8.3% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,743 PCR tests were positive, while 1,405 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

Vaccination update

Currently 96.1% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 94.1% havereceived their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 74.4% ofeligible South Australiansand 70% of South Australians aged 16+.
