COVID cases in SA
There have been 685 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 4,515 active cases in South Australia.
Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 80s, a man in his 70s and a man in his 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away. The deaths notified since the last report occurred between 16 August 2022 and 27 August 2022.
There are 129 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including seven people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 87 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 39 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and three have an unknown vaccination status.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants
The latest genome sampling has found 2.1% of samples analysed were BA.2, 6.2% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 87.5% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing
Yesterday, 4,506 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 21.1% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 322 PCR tests were positive, while 363 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
Vaccination update
Currently 96.2% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 94.3% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 75% of eligible South Australians and 70.7% of South Australians aged 16+.
