COVID cases in SA
There have been 639 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 4,323 active cases in South Australia.
Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 80s, a woman over 100 and a man in his 60s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away. The deaths notified since the last report occurred between 12 June 2022 and 30 August 2022.
There are 116 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including six people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 82 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 30 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and four have an unknown vaccination status.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants
The latest genome sampling has found 3.1% of samples analysed were BA.2, 3.1% of samples analysedwere BA.4 and 91.8% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing
Yesterday, 5,410 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 20.1% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 315 PCR tests were positive, while 324 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
Vaccination update
Currently 96.2% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 94.3% havereceived their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 74.9% ofeligible South Australiansand 70.8% of South Australians aged 16+.
