COVID cases in SA
There have been 2,933 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 18,099 active cases in South Australia.
SA Health can confirm one woman in her 80s, a man in his 60s and a man in his 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away. The deaths notified since the last report occurred between 1 August 2022 and 2 August 2022 and include latest received data.
There are 356 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 12 people in ICU and one ventilated. Of those hospitalised, 218 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 126 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 12 have an unknown vaccination status.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants
The latest genome sampling has found 11% of samples analysed were BA.2, 11% of samples analysedwere BA.4 and 77.9% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing
Yesterday, 10,210 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 9.4% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,599 PCR tests were positive, while 1,334 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
Vaccination update
Currently 96.1% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 94.2% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 74.5% of eligible South Australiansand 70.2% of South Australians aged 16+.
