COVID Cases in SA
There have been 1,688 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 18,345 active cases in South Australia.
Sadly, SA Health can confirm a man in his 70s and a man in his 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.
There are 103 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 12 people in ICU, and two people requiring a ventilator. Of those hospitalised, 61 people are fully vaccinated, 18 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 24 have an unknown vaccination status.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants
Regular genome sampling is taken to monitor the levels of Omicron within South Australia. 97% of samples taken returned an Omicron result.

COVID testing
Yesterday, 9,887 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 10% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,281 PCR tests were positive, while 407 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
Vaccination update
Currently 94.8% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 92.1% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 69% of eligible South Australians and 57.8% of South Australians aged 16+.
