South Melbourne police intercepted a black Volkswagen Amarok 4WD in South Melbourne this morning.
Officers were behind the vehicle at the intersection of Albert and Clarendon Streets about 12.45am when the light turned green and the vehicle remained stationary.
Police pulled up next to the vehicle and allege the man was asleep behind the wheel.
The 42-year-old Port Melbourne man was intercepted and spoken to by officers.
When the man returned an alleged positive road-side breath test, he was requested to accompany police to a police station for an evidentiary breath test.
Once at the station, the man refused to undergo the evidentiary breath test and left.
His Volkswagen was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $896.10
He is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving, drive whilst suspended and other traffic related offences.
