Southern Cross University has been recognised in the Times Higher Education subject rankings in the top four per cent of universities worldwide for physical sciences and psychology.

The University also ranked in the top six per cent of universities for the pre-clinical, clinical and health subject ranking.

The rankings are based on the same range of 13 performance indicators used in the overall World University Rankings 2019. The prestigious rankings place Southern Cross between the top 301-400 institutions globally for psychology and physical sciences and 501-600 for pre-clinical, clinical and health. There are about 10,000 Universities worldwide.

This success follows Southern Cross University’s strong performance in the last month’s subject rankings, being named in the top four per cent of universities worldwide for social science, business and economics, and education. Vice Chancellor Professor Adam Shoemaker said Southern Cross University was punching well above its weight with impressive course offerings and facilities at its campuses in Coffs Harbour, Lismore, Gold Coast and online.

“Southern Cross is being consistently recognised for the calibre of courses we offer and delivering great outcomes,” Professor Shoemaker said.

“We are continuing to introduce innovate new courses and availabilities and have a range of scholarships on offer for commencing students. We are leading the charge in psychological science, named number one in the country for student support and teaching quality in the Good Universities Guide, and five stars for overall education experience, skills development and learner engagement.”

As a leader in allied health education, and with a specialised new building on the way at Coffs Harbour campus, Southern Cross is offering new degrees in 2019 including the double degree in exercise science and psychological science.

Southern Cross offers Environmental Science including a major in waste recovery, Forest Sciences including a sustainable forestry focus, and Marine Science offered at the University’s Lismore campus and now available at the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Marine Science Centre (NMSC) in Coffs Harbour. The NMSC boasts a state-of-the-art tidal seawater supply system that supports a range of research activities, aquaculture farm and hatchery with a 30,000 litre broodstock facility, and a public aquarium.
