A man has been arrested following a brief police pursuit in the southern suburbs this afternoon.
Just after 1.30pm Monday 27 January police spotted a silver Mazda travelling in Kimber Avenue Huntfield Heights. Checks revealed the car was baring incorrect number plates. Patrols tried to pull over the car but it allegedly took off at speed away from them and a short pursuit ensued.
The low speed pursuit travelled around the Hackham area for a few minutes before the car appears to have had mechanical issues in Patricia Grove. The Mazda allegedly rolled backward in to a police car before the driver, and sole occupant got out and ran.
The man ran to Cabernet Drive then to Pennys Hill Road where he allegedly went into the back yard of a home. Extra patrols were called and cordoned surrounding streets.
A short time later a 26-year-old Middleton man was located and arrested by police. The man was taken to Noarlunga Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
He is expected to be charged with numerous offences including drive to evade police, drive without due care, drive unlicenced and false number plates.
There were no injuries to police. The police vehicle sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. The Mazda was towed from the scene.
