Young residents are invited to join the fun at the Southern Grampians Shire Council Pool Party Friday 25 February 2022 at the Hamilton Outdoor Swimming Pool.
An initiative made possible in partnership with Brophy and Winda Mara, the free event is open to the youth of Southern Grampians to get outside and make the most of the remaining summer days.
The free event will feature DJ Jamie Young with BBQ supported by the Hamilton Lions Club.
Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Bruach Colliton said it’s important to Council to provide opportunities for the region’s young people to connect and support one another.
“Council and partners are committed doing what we can to support our region’s young people and put together events that help get them outside enjoying life,” said Cr Colliton. “It’s also vital that we continue to promote and support events that can further social connections and perhaps rebuild after the social isolation of the past two years,” said Cr Colliton.
“The Pool Party is a great opportunity for our youth to take a breath and simply just have fun again.”
The Pool Party is open to all young residents from 4:00pm – 7:00pm Friday 25 February 2022 where they will have the opportunity to dance, swim and take part in activities with other likeminded locals. No registrations are needed – just turn up with friends and make the most of the Southern Grampians Summer.
Cr Colliton said the Pool Party is just the first of many planned youth activities for the region after it became clear during community engagement for the Council Plan that young residents are actively looking for ways to be involved in community.
“It was very clear during that process that our youth are looking for ways to have a voice and actively participate in community which is fantastic. Events like the pool party is just the beginning of our plan for activities that will engage, connect, and ultimately where young people can have fun right here in the Southern Grampians,” concluded Cr Colliton.
Funding for the event has been supported by FReeZA after Council was successful in recent grant application.
