Special Olympics “Flame of Hope” is coming to Gippsland

LETR-image.jpg

Warragul, Trafalgar and other towns in Gippsland will soon welcome the Special Olympics Australia “Flame of Hope” as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR).

The tour, known as the Gippsland Regional Engagement and Awareness Tour (GREAT), involves many dedicated law enforcement personnel carry the ‘Flame of Hope’ torch through towns to raise awareness and funds to assist Special Olympics athletes in our state.

GREAT also aims to raise awareness of sporting opportunities for, and promote the importance of inclusion and acceptance of, those with intellectual disabilities across Gippsland.

GREAT begins on Monday 9 September in Warragul and concludes in Trafalgar on Friday 13 September. In both locations, there will be slight traffic delays or traffic holds as the torch moves through, managed by Victoria Police.

As part of the GREAT, Special Olympics Australia will host ‘Come and Try’ events in Warragul, Leongatha, Traralgon, Sale and Bairnsdale, as well as torch runs through the main streets of four additional regional centres.
