Special Remembrance Day tribute for Sunshine Coast icon

Remembrance Day was a special occasion for Carinity ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Care Sunshine Coast client Kenneth Chadwick and his Lifestyle Carer, Amanda Marshall.

They attended a Remembrance Day service at Buderim which paid tribute to Kenneth’s father and World War I veteran, Bill Chadwick.

Bill was a Buderim farmer who volunteered for the Australian Army at 17 and served as a gunner in the 4th Division Artillery Battery in France. His wife Ivy played piano at the first ANZAC Day service in Buderim held in 1920.

Amanda’s Great-Great Uncle and former Buderim farmer, Sgt Eric Joseph Foote, was killed in action in France in 1916. The war memorial sanctuary in Buderim is named in his honour.

Kenneth served as president of the Buderim War Memorial Association. He was awarded an Order of Australia in 2009 for his dedication to the community including his involvement with the Sunshine Coast Concert Band.

Amanda and Carinity ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Care Sunshine Coast has been supporting Kenneth, 92, with domestic services around his home.
