Western Australian audiences are invited to step into the world of video games with an exciting exhibition curated by some of the world’s leading game developers.
‘Virtual Realms: Videogames Transformed’ is curated by the Barbican Centre, London with co-creator and celebrated game designer Tetsuya Mizuguchi, the creator of several award-winning titles including Rez/Rez Infinite, Tetris Effect and Lumines.
This exhibition brings together interactive works by six of the world’s leading video game developers, who have collaborated with top media design studios to create a series of large-scale, immersive experiences.
Each of the six ‘realms’ is driven by a unique theme, offering a multi-sensory experience through video game creativity today.
From playful adventures in virtual worlds to deep meditative reflections on life itself, visitors will be taken on a journey through beautiful landscapes, cosmic worlds and kaleidoscopic creations which transform the video game into a new form of immersive installation.
Virtual Realms invites everyone, from families, gamers and contemporary art lovers alike, to discover video games as never experienced before.
‘Virtual Realms: Videogames Transformed’ is on display at the WA Museum Boola Bardip from March 26 until May 22, 2022. Tickets are available at
