A man has lost his licence on the spot after being detected at more than 45 km/h over the speed limit on the Eyre Peninsula this evening.
The speeding SUV was detected by mobile radar travelling at 156 km/h in a 110 km/h zone on the Lincoln Highway, Middleback Ranges about 5.15pm on Friday 24 January.
The driver, a 23-year-old man from the northeastern suburbs, was issued with an expiation notice for $1718 and a six month instant loss of licence.
Operation Safe Long Weekend Australia Day began at 12.01am today and will run across the state and across the long weekend until midnight Monday 27 January.
Operation Safe Long Weekend will focus police resources on high risk behaviours that contribute to serious death and injuries on our roads. The Operation will also specifically target roads that carry a high volume of traffic and pose a risk of fatal and serious injury collisions.
