Ballarat Highway Patrol detected an SUV travelling at almost 70km/h over the speed limit in Parwan yesterday.
Police were patrolling Parwan Exford Road about 5.30pm when they detected a vehicle travelling 169km/h in a 100km/h zone.
To their surprise, the officers found that as well as the driver, there were two children in the vehicle.
The 41-year-old Bacchus Marsh driver told police he had no reason for driving over the speed limit.
His vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1006.00.
