Sydney, Australia, February 28, 2024 – Sphere Drones’ HubX has been announced as a finalist in the Australian Association for Uncrewed Systems (AAUS) 2024 Industry Awards in the Innovation Operations category. This nomination underscores the innovative capabilities and operational efficiencies HubX brings to a range of industries, including mining, agribusiness, utilities, emergency services, construction and many more industries.
Sphere Drones’ CEO, Paris Cockinos, said, “It’s exciting for Sphere Drones and HubX to receive this level of industry recognition, especially from such a critical industry association like AAUS. HubX is the most sophisticated turnkey solution globally, integrating hardware and software for clients to deploy within 30 minutes of delivery. This portable drone platform enables businesses to establish and scale drone operations anywhere quickly, capturing aerial data with a single click of a button without leaving a physical footprint”.
As a solution, HubX includes everything a business needs to roll out a BVLOS (beyond visual line of sight) operation, it’s innovative, turnkey and portable which can help businesses meet their daily operational aerial data requirements.
This innovative portable drone platform is a rugged all-terrain, solar-powered, and internet-enabled drone solution with inbuilt redundancies that break the barriers of drone-in-a-box deployments and remote drone operations for businesses. These inbuilt redundancies were put to the test during the Optus outage that hit Australia during a trial of HubX in remote northern New South Wales. HubX’s systems were able to maintain connectivity with confidence, seamlessly migrating between Optus, Telstra, and Satellite operator Starlink to keep the drones flying, a requirement of the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
The Sphere Drones team has continued to rigorously performance test HubX across Australia to give clients complete confidence to take the solution anywhere. To date, HubX has covered +4,500km on-road and +1,000km off-road mileage in a range of challenging environments (up to 42 degrees Celsius and +50km/h with speeds) to deliver +200 successful automated take-offs and landings.
Sphere Drones continues to support the industry, recently becoming a Platinum Member of the Australian Association for Uncrewed Systems (AAUS). AAUS is Australia’s foremost industry advocacy group for uncrewed systems and drones. This continues Sphere Drones’ commitment to excellence and leadership in the development and application of uncrewed systems for businesses in Australia and beyond. Members of AAUS will be able to see HubX in person at the upcoming RPAS in Australian Skies conference in Canberra on 4th March 2024.
AAUS’s Executive Director, Greg Tyrrell, said, “AAUS is thrilled to welcome Sphere Drones to the association as its newest Platinum Member. They are a truly innovative company on the rise and their decision to join AAUS highlights their commitment to industry and playing an active role in its future direction. We welcome Paris Cockinos (Founder and CEO of Sphere Drones) to the AAUS RPAS Operators Advisory Group and look forward to the invaluable insight and support he will bring to our advocacy efforts.”
