A new and united direction for sport in Australia has been unveiled today with the Albanese Government launching its ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Sport Strategy, Sport Horizon.
Sport Horizon provides a framework to focus Australia’s collective efforts and garner the expertise needed to drive improvements across the sector and outcomes for sport.
Developed with and for the Australian sport sector, the strategy reflects the diversity of the sector and the country, informed by extensive consultations with the sport ecosystem, the general public, and state and territory sport ministers and senior officials.
The ‘green and gold’ decade of major sporting events leading up to, and including the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, creates a window of opportunity to reimagine Australian sport and bring about unprecedented cooperation and alignment of the sector.
The strategy will leverage the power of sport to build healthy, active and connected communities, as well as a thriving sport system. It aims to enhance coordination, collaboration, and alignment across all sports.
The six priority areas of Sport Horizon: Inclusion; Participation; Economy and Environment; High Performance; Safety; and International Engagement, capture the priorities for the sector over the next decade and beyond.
The strategy reaffirms the Albanese Government’s commitment to creating a safe, fair, and sustainable sport system that grows participation and nurtures tomorrow’s champions today. It also acknowledges the unique platform sport provides to make social change, grow our economy, strengthen our international relationships, and advance our national interests.
