Applications for the Rockliff Liberal Government’s Active Infrastructure Grants have been extended, giving Tasmanian sporting bodies more time to apply for funding that will support improvements of local sporting facilities.
Minister for Sport and Recreation, Nic Street, said the Government has always been committed to delivering for grassroots sport in Tasmania to encourage more active participation.
“This round is the first of two $5 million grant rounds totalling $10 million and follows $25 million invested into 160 projects through the hugely popular and successful Leveling the Playing Field and Improving the Playing Field grant programs over recent years,” Minister Street said.
“The Active Infrastructure Grants program is offered as small and large grants, with the small grants previously slated to close yesterday.
“Given the appetite of the sporting community for these grants, I have extended the closing date of the small grants round out to 2pm next Wednesday, 4 October.
“This extension will give sporting bodies more of an opportunity to apply for the first round of small grants, which are valued from $25,000 to $70,000.
“The large grants, valued from $70,001 to $500,000, remain open for applications up to 13 November 2023.”
Under both streams of the grant program, applicants must contribute at least 20 percent of the project costs.
