Embrace the true spirit of the festive season by bringing more joy into the homes of community members in need this Christmas, through our Festive Giving Program. In partnership with The Salvation Army, we’ll be hosting a Giving Tree at our Civic Centre from December 1st, right up until Christmas Eve on December 24!
You’re invited to help make the holidays a little happier for the families in our Shire who may be feeling the strain of the rising cost of living, or could simply use a little help with gift-giving for their loved ones.
We know that the strong sense of community we all enjoy here in Wingecarribee will shine through in the success of this year’s Giving Tree as we share what we can with others in our township or village.
Wingecarribee Shire Council General Manager Lisa Miscamble welcomes the community’s involvement, “Each gift placed under the tree is a reminder to the families who most need to feel it, that they’re part of a community that cares.”
“It’s a tangible way for our community to pull together and make a positive impact in the place where they live at Christmas.”
You can drop a gift into our Civic Centre at 68 Elizabeth Street, Moss Vale NSW 2577 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Every gift will go a long way to making someone’s holiday more joyful and items that can continue to be useful beyond the holiday season would be welcomed. Such as board games, arts and crafts supplies, sporting equipment, or store gift vouchers.
“Now more than ever before, rising mortgages and costs will mean that for many local families, donated gifts are their only hope of surprising their children this Christmas,” says Salvation Army Corps Officer, Erin Horton. “Requests for support this year have increased significantly as people find themselves really struggling to make ends meet. We’re going to be handing out more hampers this year than in any previous year.”

Let’s show great generosity of spirit by being mindful of what we might be able to give, as we go about shopping for our own gifts this Christmas. And experience for yourself, the joy of giving!
