This spring, 1,134 bachelor’s program students, 1,622 master’s program students, 35 professional master’s program students, and 250 doctoral program students were admitted to the Institute. Of these students, 345 joined Tokyo Tech from abroad.

Participating in the entrance ceremonies were President Kazuya Masu, members of the board, deans, directors, Tokyo Tech Alumni Association President Kiyoto Ido (Class of 1972, Department of Mathematics), and alumnus Yoshikazu Oshimi, chairman and representative director of Kajima Corporation (Class of 1973, Department of Architecture and Building Engineering).

Guardians, family members, and friends of Tokyo Tech’s newest students also arrived on campus to enjoy this special day and watch the ceremonies from the 70th Anniversary Auditorium. Those who could not be present watched the festivities online via a livestream.

To kick things off, all attendees sang the Tokyo Tech Song led by Chor Kleines, the Institute’s choral group and official student club. After this, Masu delivered his warm words of welcome to the students and their families.

During his address, Masu highlighted the exciting opportunities that await Tokyo Tech’s new members, and encouraged them to explore not only their technical specializations, but also the liberal arts and social sciences. “Starting from today, you are all part of a diverse, inclusive community that is here to support you,” Masu emphasized.
