Spring is in the air, the perfect time to get outdoors and explore nature. And there’s no better way of celebrating the new season than by joining our popular Spring Outdoors program. Spring Outdoors is Council’s annual program of environmental events presented in partnership with Manningham and Banyule councils.
This year, the program includes a range of mostly free outdoor and online experiences for people to connect, learn and protect our natural environment and biodiversity. There is something for everyone in this year’s program including home growers, nature lovers, kids and families.
Mayor Frances Eyre said the Spring Outdoors program was an opportunity for young and old to enjoy being outside, learn something new, help our environment or improve your patch at home.
“Here in Nillumbik, our environment and opportunities to connect with nature are highly valued,” Cr Eyre said.
“For the first time in three years we’ve been able to present a full program of activities, and I’m sure we’re all looking forward to ways to get outside, do something different and have some fun.”
To launch the Spring Outdoor 2022 program, Edendale Community and Environment Farm presents a screening of the film Regenerating Australia on Friday 2 September. This will be followed by the opportunity to explore thoughts and ideas about how Edendale Farm can become a Climate Action Hub for our community.
Regenerating Australia is a short 17-minute film by Damon Gameau (2040 and That Sugar Film). The film takes viewers on a futuristic journey of “What Australia would look like in 2030 if we simply listened to the needs of its people”.
