When will the school crossing outside St Catherine of Siena primary school on Warralily Boulevard be installed?
The City is planning to install an unsupervised zebra crossing before the start of the 2020 school year.
A supervised children’s crossing cannot be provided at this time. The state government supports the funding of crossing supervisors. However, the state government funding model requires pedestrian and vehicle counts to meet specified levels before it will support a supervisor.
The counts will be carried out in the first week of Term One. If the required levels are met, we will apply for a funded crossing supervisor. There is no provision in the state government funding model to fund an interim crossing supervisor before the assessment process is complete.
The zebra crossing will be upgraded to a wombat crossing (raised pedestrian crossing) in 2020-2021.
When will the speed limit of Warralily Boulevard outside St Catherine of Siena primary school be dropped from 50km/h to 40 km/h?
We submitted an application to introduce a time-based 40 km/h school zone on Warralily Boulevard back in September. We are confident of gaining approval and expect speed zone signage will be installed before the start of school.
How much will Council spend to install the school crossing and put up new speed signs?
The City does not have exact costs at this time, but it will be funded through routine expenditure.
