Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery today announced that works have commenced on the second stage of Alkimos College.
The $52 million secondary school development was designed by T&Z Architects and is being built by Western Australian company EMCO Building. It is set to provide state-of-the-art facilities for students and staff.
New buildings to be constructed as part of Stage 2 include a student services area, performing arts centre, dance and visual arts studios, dedicated music and specialist classrooms, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) classrooms, and additional general learning classrooms.
Alkimos College opened in 2020 with a specialist design and technologies area, general classrooms, science and information technology laboratories, sports hall, canteen and library.
Once completed, the new facilities will accommodate an additional 700 secondary students, increasing the school’s total student capacity to 1,450.
It is anticipated the Stage 2 facilities will be ready for the 2024 school year.

“These new facilities will support an additional 700 students as the school and communities of Alkimos and Eglinton continue to grow.
“I’m excited to announce that construction on Stage 2 works has begun, with the world-class facilities set to enhance secondary education by coupling high-quality spaces for students to thrive in with modern learning technology.”
