Police have charged a 29-year-old man following an investigation into multiple instances of alleged assault, including sexual assault, and stalking in Fortitude Valley earlier this month.
At approximately 2.15am on Saturday December 3, the man allegedly approached a woman near a shopping centre on Brunswick Street and attempted to stop her moving by grabbing her stomach and arms.
The woman was able to get away uninjured.
At approximately 2.20am, the man allegedly chased after another woman on Brunswick Street and grabbed at her in attempts to converse with her. A member of the public intervened and the woman got away.
At 2.30am, the man approached another woman on Brunswick Street before allegedly touching her inappropriately and walking away.
Shortly after 2.30am, the man allegedly grabbed another woman from behind at the intersection of St Pauls Terrace and Gipps Street and attempted to drag her away.
The woman managed to get free and sought assistance from a member of the public. She sustained minor physical injuries in the incident.
At 2.45am, the man allegedly grabbed another woman from behind on the corner of St Pauls Terrace and Gotha Street, causing her to fall to the ground and hit her head.
A struggle ensued and the woman broke free and fled the scene. She sustained minor physical injuries as a result.
Following investigations conducted by the Fortitude Valley Criminal Investigation Branch, a 29-year-old Kedron man was located with assistance from the public yesterday (December 23).
He has been charged with two counts of common assault, two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, one count of sexual assault and four counts of unlawful stalking.
He is expected to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court today (December 24).
