Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) councillors met for the first Standing Committee Meetings of 2023 on Friday, 9 March.
INFRASTRUCTURE, PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE:
REPORT OF THE CLIMATE CHANGE AND RESILIENCE COMMITTEE – MEETING 29 NOVEMBER 2022: The Committee noted the reports from the Climate Change and Resilience Committee held on 29 November 2022 and 28 February 2023.
BUILDING SUMMARY – FEBRUARY 2023: The Committee noted the report from the Director Development and Environment regarding the Building Summary for February 2023. It was discussed the overall value was tracking well and while single dwellings were down the total value remains steady due to a resilient market.
CULTURE AND COMMUNITY COMMITTEE
REPORT OF THE YOUTH COUNCIL – MEETING 7 FEBRUARY 2023: The Committee noted the report of the Youth Council meeting with comments that there were new members joining and it was pleasing to see the Youth Council gaining some momentum. Expressions of Interest to join the Youth Council are being received and applications were being reviewed.
REPORT OF THE SOCIAL JUSTICE ADVISORY COMMITTEE – MEETING 14 FEBRUARY 2023: The Committee noted the report of the Social Justice Advisory Committee. Members of the Youth Council were also invited to come along which provided some encouraging, robust and engaging conversation among the group.
REPORT OF THE VILLAGES COMMITTEE – MEETING 15 FEBRUARY 2023: The Committee noted the report of the Villages Committee meeting held 15 February 2023. It was the first villages Committee with the expanded membership which now means a full representation from most villages in the Local Government Area (LGA). There was a discussion around having group hubs in different areas across the LGA during the meetings to assist with communication issues.
REPORT OF THE SPARC COMMITTEE – MEETING 20 FEBRUARY 2023: The Committee noted the SPARC Committee meeting held 20 February 2023. They recommended cultural groups be added to the New Residents Guide in a directory form the same way sporting groups are listed as well as an updated page on Council’s website.
CORPORATE SERVICES COMMITTEE
INVESTMENT UNDER SECTION 625 OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT – FEBRUARY 2023: The Committee noted the report from the Chief Financial Officer.
RELOCATION OF COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT THE DUBBO ADMINISTRATION BUILDING: The Committee endorsed the proposal to move the existing Council Chamber to the ground floor conference room with the layout proposed in option 1 of the report the desk furniture proposed in option 2 of the report. They recommended the current Council Chamber be decommissioned and used for operational staff and the CEO provide Councillors a report on the future options for 69 Church Street, Dubbo.
