A host of current and future stars will be on show for the North Queensland Cowboys and Gold Coast Titans when they do battle in Saturday’s NRL trial match at Sunshine Coast Stadium.
International forwards Jason Taumalolo, Matt Scott, Jordan McLean were all named in the Cowboys side, along with livewire hooker Jake Granville and exciting youngster Jake Clifford – who is widely tipped to take over the coveted halfback role for the 2015 Premiers in the post-Johnathan Thurston era.
Gympie product Carlin Anderson will play full fullback for the Cowboys, while 19-year old Junior Kangaroos representative Murray Taulagi and prolific try scorer Gideon Gela-Mosby will start on the wings with Enari Tuala and Javid Bowen named in the centres.
Titans coach Garth Brennan named Tyrone Roberts as halfback and captain for Saturday’s all-Queensland clash that kicks off at 5pm. Mitch Rein, Bryce Cartwright and colourful winger Anthony Don will also line up in the starting side.
It’ll be the Cowboys’ first match on the Sunshine Coast, while the Titans are returning to the region after taking on the New Zealand Warriors in 2018.
Titans fans can get a firsthand look at their team at an open training session at Sunshine Coast Stadium on Friday, February 22 from 10am. The Cowboys will hold their open training session from 3pm on Friday, where fans can see how their footy heroes train and grab an autograph.
The Cowboys and Titans also plan to visit local schools and hospitals during their time on the Coast.
Tickets are selling fast for Saturday’s game and local footy fans are urged to jump online now at to avoid missing out. ‘Try zone’ tickets are still available for $35, while general admission tickets are $20 for adults, $15 concession, $12 for children under 15 and $45 for a family of four.
