A State Funeral will be held for the Chairman of the Northern Land Council Dr Bush-Blanasi.
It will be held at 10:30am on Friday 15 December at the Territory Netball Stadium, 235 Abala Road, Marrara.
A proud Yolngu and Mayili man, Dr Bush-Blanasi was a strong advocate, and inspirational leader for Aboriginal people across the Northern Territory and Australia.
Dr Bush-Blanasi was a true advocate whose purpose was to make sure Aboriginal people ‘s rights were protected and represented at the highest level. He was instrumental in securing sea country rights for Yolngu people at Blue Mud Bay in Eastern Arnhem Land and helped develop the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
Dr Bush-Blanasi was a friend and confidant, always offering advice and wisdom, and he will be missed by many.
