The Lawler Labor Government is giving Police the resources they need to keep Territorians safe.
Today, on the water for the first time is a new $540,000 Search and Rescue high speed response vessel that can reach speeds of up to 50 knots (92kms).
The 8.4m meter vessel named ‘PV Deutrom’ features radar, ray marine navigations, communications systems and is powered by twin 300hp mercury outboard engines which are essential for our highly specialised Search and Rescue squad to undertake a range of waterborne police operations to keep Territorians safe.
This is the latest addition to the Northern Territory’s Police Force’s fleet of resources, expanding their operational capabilities and ensuring our front line is as efficient and effective as possible.
This vessel reflects the commitment of the Lawler Labor Government to ensure our Police are well prepared to keep out communities safe and follows a record $570 million investment over five years, which is additional to the 2024 Police Budget of $561 million.
This record investment underscores the Lawler Government’s common sense plan which includes 200 more front line officers on our streets, a major Territory wide infrastructure program, greater training for officers, more vehicles and better resources in our emergency call centre.
