Six of Western Australia’s best venues are calling upon the public to donate pre-loved sporting equipment so it can be delivered to regional and remote communities across the State.
New donation bins are now located at six VenuesWest venues, as part of a partnership with charity organisation Fair Game – to offer Western Australians convenient, easy places to drop off used sporting equipment and give it a new lease of life.
The collection bins are located at Bendat Basketball Centre, HBF Park, HBF Arena, HBF Stadium, WA Athletics Stadium, and Gold Netball Centre.
Fair Game – a VenuesWest Community Partner – collects recycled sporting equipment and delivers it to regional and remote WA communities where it is needed.
In 2018, Fair Game distributed over 7,000 sports equipment items, valued at about $121,000 – diverting the equivalent of 247 large household wheelie bins from landfill and providing thousands access to sporting equipment.
The organisation helps to encourage participation in sport and fitness, providing all of the positive social and health benefits that go with grassroots sport.
Now in its fourth year, the VenuesWest Community Partners Program provides donations, sponsorship opportunities and event tickets to deliver community benefits.
Since the Community Partners Program commenced in July 2016, benefits valued at over $125,000 have been donated to thousands of West Australians through 14 not-for-profit organisations.
Fair Game joins Mentally Healthy WA, Glass Jar and Indigo Junction as one of Venue West’s 2019 Community Partners.

As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray:
“It’s always a shame to see decent sporting equipment sitting on street corners for roadside collection, and this initiative offers people an easy, convenient way to give it a new lease of life.
“Regional and remote communities do a great job of making do with what they have, but there is always a need for better quality equipment to support grassroots sport in these areas.
“Western Australians can now visit one of six VenuesWest venues to drop pre-loved equipment off in the Fair Game donation bins, knowing it will help kids around the State to play sport and keep healthy.
